Tustin (Calif.) running back Terence Martinez impressed in the Tillers' 82-7 victory over Anaheim (Calif.) Western, scoring four of the team's touchdowns.

Martinez scored early in the first quarter, breaking off and running the ball 77 yards for a touchdown, and his momentum did not stop there, soon after scoring on a 44-yard run. He also had an interception in the third quarter, running the ball back 75 yards to the Western 4-yard line, setting up the Tillers' for their next touchdown.

"I was a little nervous because it is our homecoming and you want to win for the seniors. We had fun out there. We just wanted to make a statement, play hard, and get the W," he said after the game.

Tustin, now 9-0, is one of a few undefeated teams in the area, and Martinez and the Tillers are working hard to make it back to state and win the championship for the second year in a row.

"We're working really hard. We're trying to just get better every day and I really think we've continued to improve on a week to week basis," he said.

Though Tustin does have a few talented running backs on its' roster, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Martinez uses his size to his advantage.

"I can get into little, open holes that I can see through; I can break long runs and get my yardage," he said.

With the mid-point of the season behind him, Martinez has put together his game film and is patiently waiting for input.

"I've sent out my highlights to multiple schools, so now I'm just waiting to hear back," he said.

A few schools have been showing interest, and Martinez is optimistic that more attention-and an offer-will come.

"I visited Cal Poly recently and I have been talking with San Jose State, Arizona, and Colorado State. I haven't planned any other visits yet, but Colorado State is a school that's standing out right now. I think they could offer towards the end of the season," he said.
