A look at the games that the Scout Recruiting Team out West will be hitting this weekend...

THURSDAY

Regis (Colo.) Jesuit vs. Aurora (Colo.) Gateway at 6:00 p.m.
The first round matchup of the Colorado state 5A playoffs pits Regis Jesuit against a solid Gateway squad that features Colorado State commit Zackary Golditch, a 6-5, 265-pound offensive lineman.  Gateway junior receiver Anthony Holmes is a 6-6, 195-pounder who's getting a lot of interest for basketball as well as football.  (@BrandonHuffman)

FRIDAY

Littleton (Colo.) Columbine at Grand Junction (Colo.) at 1:00 p.m.
Grand Junction features a pair of Mountain West commits, Wyoming defensive tackle pledge James Diamante and Colorado State defensive end verbal Austin Berk.  Junior Theron Verna is another to watch for Grand Junction.  Columbine is home to Colorado verbal John Lisella as well as running back prospect Bernard McDondle.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Castle Rock (Colo.) Castle View vs. Arvada (Colo.) Ralston Valley at 4:00 p.m.
Ralston Valley has a pair of D-I prospects, one being 6-10 offensive tackle Dan Skipper, an SEC commit headed to Tennessee.  Ralston Valley also has linebacker Jordan Anderson, who has a couple of offers.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Phoenix (Ariz.) Paradise Valley at Peoria (Ariz.) Liberty at 7 p.m.
The first round of the Arizona state playoffs start Friday and this division-three opening round match-up is a rematch from early in the season, one in which Liberty won. With two of the top quarterbacks in the state playing in this game, expect a ton of offense. Paradise Valley is led by Boise State commit Ryan Finley who leads the state in passing yards. He is protected up front by tackle Patrick Johnson, who has an offer from Idaho. Liberty's dual-threat passer, Tyler Rogers, is exciting to watch. Rogers has offers from Air Force and South Dakota State currently. (@jason247scout)

Broomfield (Colo.) Legacy at Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian at 7:00 p.m.
One of the most talented teams in the state, Valor Christian begins their run in the playoffs as the #4 seed.  They're led by Oklahoma State commit Luke Del Rio, an Elite 11 passer, and running back Christian McCaffrey a Scout 300 prospect from the 2014 class who's got a slew of offers.  Fellow running back Daryl Hawkins, a senior, has some FCS offers. (@BrandonHuffman)

El Toro (Calif.) at Mission Viejo (Calif.) at 7:00 p.m.
This is a huge South Coast League matchup with both teams, 9-0, 4-0 in league and a conference title at stake. The Chargers are led by Utah quarterback commit Connor Manning, who has been putting up video game numbers all season. Manning has thrown for over 3,500 yards and 38 touchdowns with just three interceptions. El Toro also has a strong running game led by 1,000 yard rusher Jacob Furnani and has an offer from Air Force. For Mission Viejo, two-way standout Max Redfield is the clear headliner. Redfield is headed to USC to play safety but he's one of the top receivers in the region and a top 50 player nationally as well. UCLA offensive line commit Erik Bunte has looked very comfortable playing for the Diablos after his much publicized transfer from Santa Margarita. Bunte starts at left tackle for Mission and has had  a solid season.  Junior quarterback Ian Fieber is having a strong season and is a definite BCS prospect. He has good size, a live arm and can make all the throws. Another junior to watch for the Diablos is running back Alex Suchesk. The athlete is a physical runner and one of the fastest players in the state having clocked a 10.72-100m last year.  (@GregBiggins)

Canyon Country (Calif.) Canyon at Newhall (Calif.) Hart at 7:30 p.m.
The top prospect in Friday's matchup is Canyon wide receiver Drew Wolitarsky, who recently broke the California state record for receiving yards in a career that was held by former USC star Steve Smith. The 6-3, 200-pound receiver has eight scholarship offers and is interested in San Jose State, Minnesota and Army. On the opposite sideline, Hart features a pair of talented 2015 prospects in wide receiver Trent Irwin and quarterback Brady White. Irwin has created quite a bit of buzz because of his impressive performances the last two years at camps and offseason 7-on-7 tournaments. He has great hands, good size and deceptive speed.   (@KevinCarden)

Etiwanda (Calif.) at Upland (Calif.) at Friday at 7 p.m.
The Upland (Calif.) Scots are 9-0 as they prepare to host 4-5 Etiwanda (Calif.) in this Inland Empire match up. Upland is led by quarterback Nate Romine (6-0, 185), who has been hearing from the likes of Oregon State, Houston, and Air Force. The Scots' defense is anchored by one of the nation's top defense ends in Joe Mathis, who has picked up over fifty offers and is seriously considering schools including Washington, Nebraska, and Utah, where he took an official visit last weekend. Mathis will be presented with his U.S. Army All-American Game Jersey before Friday's game; he's mentioned that he will be announcing his college decision during January's game. The talented defensive back duo of cornerback Delvin Batiste (a San Diego State commit) and safety James Johnson (an Arizona State commit) adds to the threat. Players to watch include running back Tyler Bratton and receiver Russell Boucher. Etiwanda's biggest play-maker is receiver Jordan Villamin, an Oregon State commit. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound player gave his verbal to the Beavers over the summer, though he also recently took an official visit to Utah. (@AnnabelStephan)

SATURDAY

Parker (Colo.) Chaparral at Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Rock Canyon at 4:00 p.m.
Chaparral is paced by three-star tight end Mitch Parsons, who just decommitted from Colorado and is now wide open, as well as quarterback Max Kuhns.  Receiver Brendan Malone is a 2014 prospect.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Seattle (Wash.) O'Dea vs. Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes at 4:00 p.m.
Lakewood (Wash.) Lakes wide receiver and Washington commit Sammie Long has great size at 6'4" 190lbs. Long is best when the ball is in the air and has the ability to go up and pull it down. Long also holds an offer from Utah and could consider visiting later this year. In addition to Long, Lakes has another college level wide receiver in Marquin Russell. He holds offers from Army and Idaho and is an elite athlete that some believe could be more talented than Long.  Two Lakes players that have a chance to be the top prospects in the state in their respective classes are 2015 defensive end Benning Potoae and 2016 offensive tackle Jared Goldwire. Potoae is the younger brother of current Washington Husky Sione Potoae and is already a dominant force. Just a freshman, Goldwire stands 6'6" 265lbs and will bring back memories of Lakes last giant lineman, USC tackle Zach Banner.  The star for O'Dea is athlete and speedster Tatum Taylor, who took an official visit to Arizona State this past weekend. Taylor is also planning on visiting Oregon State and Washington State. O'Dea has a collection of underclassmen worth keeping an eye on. 2014 quarterback Pierre Le Dorze, 2014 fullback Jack Flor, 2015 running back Myles Gaskin, 2015 wide receiver Mikel Owes and 2015 cornerback Kaleb Swain all have a chance to play at the next level.  (@JakeWorthen)

Mountlake Terrace (Wash.) High vs. Burien (Wash.) Kennedy at 7:00 p.m.
Mountlake Terrace star 2014 running back Devante Downs picked up offers from Utah and Washington recently. He will be one of the top prospects in the state next season and should have a handful of offers by the time he signs. The two standouts for Kennedy are big men. Washington State commit Cole Madison is the smaller of the two, but both he and teammate Desmound Thompson are listed at 6'6" 260lbs. Thompson has seen recruiting pick up during the season with productive and improved play on the field.  (@JakeWorthen)
